The Elf on the Shelf: Day 23

IMG_0416.jpg

[gallery] The kids woke up today to an Elf approved breakfast. Kevin had the kids bowl set out and even wrote their names on the table with Apple Jacks. The kids were so excited. Peyton jumped right up and ate her breakfast so Kevin would tell Santa how good she is being. If nothing else Kevin has made our kids listen and mind a lot better.

The Elf on the Shelf: Day 22

It did not take long for our kids to find Kevin. He left a good mess befind that gave away his hiding place.

There he is high above in our kitchen, looking down at his mess. He had a half eaten EL Fudge in his arms and a big smile on his face.

We noticed something about the cookies he left behind. Every little Elf cookie had its head eaten off. We thought that was very strange. Brandon wondered if that means we has a cannibal Elf. We dont know why he only eats the heads but I am glad he dosent just take the cookie apart and lick the fudge out. That is how our little boy Kai likes his Oreo cookies.

Ham Potato Chowder Remix

This is a recipe that I made and shared last year, but it is so good I had to share it again. We had a Christmas Party at our house on Thursday and we had some leftover ham. I thought it was a good idea to make some ham chowder. This is an easy recipe that will warm you up and tastes great.

This is the rundown of what you need.

4 large potatoes

2 TB butter

1/4 cup sliced green onion

1/2 cup chopped green pepper

2 cups of water

1 can of whole kernel corn

1/8 tsp pepper

1/4 tsp paprika

3 TB flour

2 cups milk

1 tsp salt

2 cups diced ham

Peel and dice potatoes. In large saucepan melt butter, add onions and green pepper. Cook until tender. Add potatoes, water and seasonings. Cover and simmer until potatoes are tender.

Make paste of flour 1/2 cup water. Add to potato mixture.

Add milk and cook until slightly thickened, stirring constantly. Stir in undrained corn and diced ham. Heat through.

My kids love this soup. They both had a second helping. I know you will love it. Let me know how you like it in the comments below.
